L’Auberge de Sedona – Sedona, AZ

A Sanctuary of Nature & Mindful Hospitality

Nestled in the heart of Sedona, Arizona, L’Auberge de Sedona isn’t just a luxury retreat — it’s an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and immerse yourself in the natural beauty and serenity of the Red Rocks.

Whether you’re looking for romance, wellness, adventure, or simply rest, this resort succeeds at being all of those, wrapped in thoughtful design, nourishing food, and warm service.

Let’s explore what makes it so special.

A Storied History Rooted in the Land

  • What is now L’Auberge de Sedona began long ago, in the late 1800s, as an orchard along the banks of Oak Creek, cultivated by Sedona’s first settlers.
  • In 1982, Janot Rocci, inspired by his youth in Provence, conceived of a French Country Inn blended with the rustic, spiritual energy of Sedona. Construction followed, and by May 1984 the inn, with 14 cabins and a gourmet restaurant, opened its doors.
  • Over the years, the property evolved: cabins and cottages were added, the spa established (and later relocated and returned), restaurants reimagined, public spaces refurbished, all while preserving a sense of natural beauty and intimacy.
  • As of 2024, L’Auberge celebrated 40 years of hospitality, refining its offerings and deepening its commitment to meaningful guest experiences.

Accommodations: Nature Meets Luxury

At L’Auberge, lodging isn’t one-size-fits-all. You’ll find an array of cottages, suites, and rooms each crafted to balance luxury and tranquility:

  • Creekside Cottages offer peaceful settings right along Oak Creek with views, sound of flowing water, private decks, and luxurious touches.

  • Vista, Garden, and Spa Cottages, each with their own character, let you choose more garden seclusion, elevated views, or extra pampered spa features.
  • The Lodge and its rooms/suites offer a more traditional hotel-style space, but still infused with design touches that reflect Sedona’s landscape, with modern comfort as a priority.

Amenities in all accommodations are thoughtful: private decks, outdoor cedar showers (in many cottages), lush garden paths, and welcome amenities like wine, snacks, or other goodies to help guests start their stay on a high note.

Dining: Culinary Artfully Rooted in Place

Dining at L’Auberge isn’t just eating — it’s a sensory experience.

  • Cress on Oak Creek is the crown jewel: creekside setting, locally inspired ingredients, a redefinition of Arizonan cuisine infused with French techniques and European influence. Breakfast, lunch, dinner — all beautifully presented.
  • The Cress Bar offers more approachable fare and beverages in a more informal, open-air setting.
  • Private dining venues (e.g. the Veranda, Terrace) allow groups to dine in more intimate, outdoor settings, with views, creek sounds, and attentive service. Excellent for special occasions or romantic dinners.
  • Dining offerings are enhanced by seasonal and thematic experiences: creekside picnics, Sunday brunch, live music on select evenings, and a curated wine program that highlights local Arizona wines. The recent “Arizona Uncorked” program is one example of this commitment.

Wellness, Amenity, and the Art of Arrival

L’Auberge distinguishes itself not only by its accommodations and food, but by how it makes you feel from the moment you arrive.

  • The L’Apothecary Spa is more than a spa — it’s a botanical, sensory space where treatments are tailored, blending station offerings, and focus on natural rejuvenation. The spa has deep roots dating back to 2004 and continues to evolve with respect to holistic wellness.

  • The resort amenities are rich: heated pool and hot tub, fitness center (Peloton bikes and more) available 24 hours, electric car-charging stations, guest transportation in resort vehicles to explore nearby shops and restaurants.

  • Welcome and arrival experiences are carefully curated: an “Enhance Your Arrival” menu includes options like Adventure Daypacks, romance turndowns, bouquets, wine & chocolate. These touches set the tone for rest, retreat, and connection.

Immersive & Outdoor Experiences

One of the strongest things about staying at L’Auberge is how seamlessly the property is tied to the outdoors and local culture.

  • The property is on the banks of Oak Creek, which allows moments of quiet meditation, creekside strolling, or simply listening to water flow—nature becomes part of the lodging.
  • Nearby Sedona offerings: hiking, jeep tours, horseback riding, hot-air balloon rides, exploring art galleries, boutique shopping — all accessible from the resort.
  • Events and gatherings, including weddings, retreats, and meetings, feel organic and place-based. Spaces both indoors and outdoors, with significant square footage, artful design, and a strong connection to nature.

Why L’Auberge de Sedona Stands Out

  • They’ve managed to retain a sense of intimacy — despite being a luxury property, it’s never overwhelming or impersonal.
  • Their design philosophy ties closely with the environment: architecture, furnishings, even dining, all reflect Sedona’s red rocks, lush creek, natural light, and rugged beauty.
  • The blend of elevated luxury and mindfulness—the spa, wellness, quiet — it feels like more than a stay, but more like a reset.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Depending on what kind of stay you want (romantic, adventure, wellness), communicate in advance with Guest Experience to arrange special amenities or experiences.
  • Be prepared to spend some time outdoors — the creek, gardens, trails — so bring layers (it can cool off), good walking shoes, a sense of curiosity.
